Mijas, situated in the heart of the Western Costa del Sol lies only 30 kilometres from Malaga International Airport. It has a varied landscape that goes from the mountains all the way to the sea.
The area of Mijas is mostly mountainous with growing developments along the coast and on the gentler parts of the mountain slopes. The Pasadas and Ojen rivers cross this area, they join to form the river Fuengirola which flows into the sea almost on the limits between Fuengirola and Mijas.

Riviera beach is 10 minutes walk from the apartment which has good amenities including a new supermarket. Try David's bar for a relaxing evening drink or Max beach which is a very popular bar/restaurant their are a dozen restaurants and bars close by.

There are a variety of restaurants, shops and bars/ discos etc in Calahonda a 5 minute drive away our favourite is el olivios the food is spectacular and the service is excellent. And a lovely town called La cala is 5 minutes from Riviera and has over a dozen restaurants and bars you will certainly have plenty of things to see and do.

Fuengirola and Marbella are exceptionally good for clothes and shoe shopping for all ages. Just outside Marbella, a 10 minute drive away is La Canada, a large shopping mall good for fashion shopping. A car is not vital to the enjoyment of your holiday, the beach, bars and shops are all within easy walking distance as is a taxi rank (taxis are fairly cheap in Spain] and a bus service runs up and down the coast.

If you want to explore further afield there are many car rental agencies that will allow you to pick up a car at the airport and leave it there once finished. The apartment is an easy 20 minute drive from the airport.

With over 60 golf courses in the province of Malaga (more than any other province in Spain) more than 30 of these are to be found in the 'Costa del Golf' area Royal Golf is situated only 50 mtrs away from the Miraflores Golf Clubhouse.

Miraflores is one of the leading resort developments on the Costa del Sol, in the Mijas municipality and very close to Marbella, the Miraflores Golf 18 holes course has a number of elevated greens.

Holes 18th, 12th and 15th are really memorable, the last with the water forming a moat around the green. Hole 8th offers a breathtaking view of the countryside. The club offers the possibility of renting carts, clubs and buggies and make sure to stop off at the restaurant which offers excellent value on their evening set meal and lunch menus. They also offer Flamenco evenings in the summer.

Cabopino: (3-5 mins drive)
Cabopino and Cabopino beach are situated on the coast, halfway between Fuengirola and Marbella. Miles of beautiful sandy beaches with water sports, fishing and boat sandy beach and dunes can be reached via the road at the side of the apartment block. There is also a pleasant harbour and renowned restaurants. Cabopino is one of the Costa del Sol's best kept secret.

Marbella: (10 mins drive)
One of the most delightful promenades on the Costa Del Sol, with its classy restaurants and bars overlooking the beach front. A visit to the Orange Square will bring you to a host of street restaurants in the old part of Marbella.

Puerto Banus: (15 mins drive)
With it’s mega rich yachts, world famous fashion shops, Casino, shopping centre, top beaches and spectacular views, makes this place special. The nightlife is buzzing with numerous Bars & Restaurants overlooking the marina. Hire a yacht and go out into the Mediterranean

Benalmadena: (30 mins drive)
A lively resort with its beautiful sandy beaches & a spectacular promenade 2km long. Visit the Marina Plaza, often described as Covent Garden on water. Other attractions include the Tivoli World theme park.

Mijas Pueblo: (20 mins drive)
One of the prettiest villages in Spain, this traditional village has breath taking views. Tour the charm of this village on the famous Donkey taxis. Also lookout for the Mineral water spring at the entrance to the village

Ronda: (50 mins drive)
Ronda is truly a spectacular village, famous throughout Spain for the plunging river gorge which divides this enchanting village. Ronda also has the oldest & most beautiful bullring in the whole of Spain.

Gibraltar: (60 mins drive)
Tax free shopping (Don't forget to take passport along when visiting).
a must see visit like stepping out of Spain back into England within 5 minutes!..Here you have a multitude of English High Street stores and wines, spirits, perfumes and cigarettes are duty you visit Gibraltar, you will find that the people are friendly, helpful and always polite. They are very proud and if you visit on September 10th (National Day) wear red and white to help celebrate and to fit in!Riviera has its own new plaza which houses numerous shops, cafe's, Tapas bars, English stye sports bars and restaurants which appeal to every taste. There are numerous banks, currency exchanges and a large supermarket in the plaza. The long beach is well cared for , clean, soft and golden sand with sunbeds and parasols for rental.

There is an abundance of good quality watersports and recreational facilities in an around La Cala. Tennis club "Club del Sol" welcomes all comers as does the the lawn bowls centre at Miraflores. There are also gymnasiums, dive centres within minutes of the village.

Although the complex is on a golf course there are other numerous golf courses in the region El Chaperel,La Cala, Santana and numerous others.

The Mijas Hippodrome, ( a racetrack) is situated a few km's from Riviera which has meetings every week and includes lots of entertainment around the course. Anyone visiting Mijas will of course want to wander through the beautiful, whitewashed mountain Pueblo to enjoy the spectacular views.

There are numerous organised trips to Morocco, Gibraltar Rhonda etc available to book within the village area.
