If you are looking for something a little different to teeming tourist resorts and crowded beaches, why not try a holiday a little inland on the fabulous River Ebro?
30 minutes inland from the Costa Dorada and just short of 2 hours south of Barcelona our 2 apartments are situated right on the banks of this magnificent river and enjoy uninterrupted views. The River Ebro is of course, the obvious focus for anglers, but the diverse terrain and rich wildlife make it a perfect base for birdwatchers, walkers, climbers, artists and photographers. The region overflows with history and there are Templar Castles, Carthusian monasteries, Roman remains, Gothic and Gaudi architecture, many ancient hill villages and the more recent sites of the Spanish Civil War. Families can enjoy lots of fun activities - horseriding, canoeing, archery and boat trips on the river. If the kids need their fix of white knuckle rides then it is only 45 minutes to the Port Aventura Theme Park and Water parks in the busy resort of Salou. There are many non-commercial beaches and coves for quieter days by the sea.
THE APARTMENTS
Apartment Butterflies occupies the whole of the 2nd floor of a typical Spanish town house in the small town of Mora d'Ebre. With a floor space of 85 square metres it offers spacious accommodation and is decorated and furnished with all the comforts of home. The master bedroom is a large family room with 1 double and 1 single bed and has room for a cot if required. The other bedroom has 2 single beds and there is also a sofa-bed in the lounge - suitable for 2 children or 1 adult. The beds are made up with good quality cottons and nice thick bath towels are provided too. The bed arrangement in this apartment would suit a family of up to 7 or a group of 5.
The large kitchen-diner is fully equipped with full-size hob and oven, fridge-freezer and includes essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar, oil, vinegar and herbs. The dining area tends to be the hub of this apartment, having a large pine table, situated with open views over the River Ebro,where you can enjoy your meals and chat about the days activities. Alternatively, relax in the lounge where you can watch the Ebro flow by from the comfort of the sofa.
Please note that there is another apartment above Butterflies which has further accommodation for 4 people. This is Birds Apartment and it has 1 bedroom with a king size bed and another bedroom with 2 singles. It occupies the whole of the top floor and enjoys 2 outside spaces. The front terrace is a perfect spot to enjoy an early morning coffee and see the sunrise or to relax with an evening glass of wine whilst you watch the River Ebro flow by.Please contact us for further details about this apartment or to check availability.

THE LOCAL TOWN
Mora d’Ebre itself is a thriving, agricultural town with a population of around 5000. The town is small enough to retain a strong community feel but big enough to provide all the services you need. It has a surprisingly wide variety of bars, restaurants, supermarkets and stylish shops. In summer the municipal outdoor swimming-pool which has 3 pools, lawns for sunbathing and a small bar and restaurant is a perfect place to relax on those hot summer days. Mora is well placed on the intersection of the C12 and N420 which gives you easy access to the whole region -mountains to the West and East the Ebro Delta and beaches to the South. The cities of Tarragona, Reus and Tortosa all around a 40 minute drive.
