Best known for its sandy beaches, the Costa Dorada offers a whole range of activities. With mild temperatures and beautiful days, Autumn and Spring is also the perfect time to come. The center of Barcelona is just an hour away by car, or even better, and easy 1-h train ride away, ideal for a relaxed day-long visit. The Costa Dorada has wonderful restaurants for all budgets and delicious local fare, particularly fish. For families with children, the famous Port Aventura Themathic Park is a lot of fun and only 12km away, and is Spain's largest Theme Park, with its outstanding representation of five diverse worlds ranging from Polynesia to Mexico, to China, to the old American West. Swim, sail, build a sand castle, or enjoy a stroll along the coast for beautiful views. The Club Maritim on the Platja Llarga offers sailing and winsurfing classes. The Golf Club Costa Dorada is a rising destination for golfers, with several excellent golf courses, within 5 minutes drive, in Catllar. The splendorous past of Tarragona city is enclosed in its several well preserved edifices. Reus, home town of the internationally famous Gaudí, is nowadays a centre for Modernism architecture, and a nice city for going shopping. There are also numerous small towns and cities nearby to be explored. SALOU has a lively night life. You can book fishing trips, boat trips, horse riding and other trips through the Tourist Information Office located in Tarragona.
