Palma Nova

Palma Nova is one of the most popular resort on the Balearic Island of Mallorca, together with its neighbouring resort of Magaluf. Situated to the south west of the island, in the municipal of Calvia, just 15 kilometres from the capital of Palma and the Son Sant Joan airport.

Palma Nova and Magaluf, although two separate resorts, become more or less merged into one during the summer months, when the party crowd hit town. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful destination, Palma Nova is probably best left until the autumn/winter season, when the 24 hour bars close and the 18-30 crew leave the island.

About town
Palma Nova is a bustling resort, which offers a wide choice of activities for holidaymakers. Being one of the earliest developed holiday resorts on the island, Palma Nova is also well equipped with all the facilities and services one needs on their holiday.

There are, of course, a huge selection of bars, restaurants, cafes and nightclubs, which during the summer stay open until the early hours. The area of Punto Balena is the place to head to if you want to party, or to avoid if you don’t!

The original fishing harbour still remains, but there is also a modern marina and nautical club.

During the autumn, winter and spring season, Palma Nova is as much a family resort, as it is for partygoers.

Beaches
The beaches along Palma Nova, leading into Magaluf are of fine, golden sand and for those wishing to participate in water sports, there are lots of options available. The beach at Palma Nova is clean, and quieter than that of its counterpart.

Eating out
As you can imagine in Palma Nova there are restaurants that cater for all tastes and budgets. Whether you want to enjoy traditional Mallorcan gastronomy, or delicious seafood and the local catch of the day. If you want a home away from home, you will find British cuisine, pizza, Indian, Chinese, KFC, Burger King, and lots more!

Places to visit
We recommend a trip to the capital of Mallorca, Palma, where you can enjoy excellent shopping and visit all the cultural aspects of this historical city.

The buses can get quite packed along the south west route, but nothing is too far away and you can hop on and visit some of the local seaside towns, and beautiful bays of the island.

Climate
Palma Nova enjoys a typical Mediterranean weather, with mild winters and hot summers. During the months of July and August, the weather is hot and beautifully sunny, boasting around 11 hours of sun daily.

During the winter, some days can feel a little chilly, but you can generally enjoy fine, mild weather and winter sun.
