Almunecar is a very Spanish town and there are many places where not much, if any, English is spoken. This was definitely not a problem for us even though we do not speak any more than a few words of Spanish and is one of the reasons we enjoyed the town so much.
We especially enjoyed that most of the bars served tapas with drinks and varied the food throughout your visit. Food and drink is very reasonably priced and is sufficiently varied to cater for all of our parties tastes.
We self catered so became regulars at the main supermarket which has easy underground parking. The smaller shops were also very good and there is an excellent bakery on the main high street. Self caterers be aware that not many shops are open on a Sunday although basics can be found in the main street.
Our second visit to the town and we will definitely return.
Costa Tropical anmeldelser
The area is lovely, we drove to Granada on the main road and had tremendous views on the way back (torrential rain on the way there meant concentration was limited to the road ahead!).
We attended a wedding at Casa de Los Bates in Motril and found the venue to be excellent.
Golf near Almunecar is relatively limited and we tried two courses, Baveira about half way between Almunecar and Malaga where we had great service and excellent hire clubs. The course is relatively short but tight and unforgiving so has enough to be a challenge. Santa Clara Golf at Granada was a lovely course with superb mountain views as it is high up. A little more forgiving than Baveira but the front nine is tight as it winds between the resort houses.
